Testimonials
“Frank and I fell in love with the house the first time we set foot in here, signed contracts in under a fortnight and have loved every moment of our time here.
We have been blown away by the very clever design and the acoustic is as good as any concert hall. This has been a huge joy for both of us. The shadows, the privacy, the expanse of nature and the clever way each room enjoys complete privacy without encroaching on the neighbouring properties.
We would be delighted should you wish to visit here and we would then be able to express our endless enthusiasm for the architecture and your combined cleverness in achieving this triumph.
Thank you for the many happy days.”

“The aesthetic aspirations were for a building that would nestle comfortably under the soaring Ash tree and, at the same time, share a degree of connection with the main house.
The charred timber cladding is not only beautiful in its own right, but seamlessly integrates with its green surrounds, as well as mirroring the black paintwork of the main house. The pergola structure provides a surprisingly roomy porch and acts as a natural bridge to the garden.
Exposed timber ceiling joists that add a pleasing touch of complexity to the interior.
An unexpected building, it creates a delightful courtyard effect within the walled garden. The simple yet characterful interior creates an inviting and relaxing haven – connected to the main building but, at the same time, discreetly apart from it.”
“ We interviewed several architects over the course of a few weeks and narrowed our choice from the ideas that they presented to us. The architects’ responses to our brief and their initial interpretation of our needs were very important in our decision. We chose Wilkinson King on the quality of their previous work and because we knew that the house we wanted would be designed specifically for us on the site.
The house is more than we could have expected it to be. Winning architectural awards demonstrates how the house is being seen as a success but for us living in the house is better than our expectations; the house works perfectly for us. We are spending much more time in Sussex than we had planned.
The views from the house and garden are stunning and seeing out from various points such as the upper floors through the double height area is a delight each day.
We absolutely love our garden, designed by Landscape Architect Andy Sturgeon, the way it connects to both the house and the landscape beyond is a triumph. We are looking forward to how it will mature over the years.”
“After nine very happy months of living in Weybridge House, we know that above all else, it’s a brilliant home.
Chantal, Julian and the team took great care to ensure it would be somewhere that we’d always love to be. That ambition has paid off.
The balance of communal and private spaces means people can get together and have their own time very easily. You can stand anywhere in the house and the light is incredible, all year round, even in winter. The team thought long and hard about how the sun would hit the building, and it’s never overwhelming, it’s always just right.
The ergonomics are a perfect. Big houses can often be contrived and difficult to navigate, but this house is just so easy to walk around. Everything is in the right place and at the right distance. That really calms you down.
Finally, it’s simply very beautiful. Every morning we wake up and the space, the woodwork, the sky, the angles all hit you. Every morning the house pays down its debt, and then you step outside. We see people walking up the road towards it, watching the house as it emerges out of the trees, and every day people want to talk about it. Like us they love the idea of a modern house, with all the easy lines and the glass, that’s also made of such beautiful, wonderful brick. We dreamt about this place for a long time, and now it’s a reality. It was worth it.”
